Hide God’s Law and He Hides Himself From Us

THOU SHALL NOT

The photo below appeared in an October 7 throw away daily paper given out at subways stops in the metropolitan area of our nation’s capital. The caption below the picture includes: “THOU SHALL NOT: Workers remove a Ten Commandments monument from its base on the grounds of the state Capitol in Oklahoma City Monday night.  Oklahoma’s Supreme Court ruled in June the display violates a state constitutional prohibition on the use of public property. … ”  The monument was removed to a storage facility.

What are the implications?

Oklahoma City judge directs removal of God’s Law

Removal of the Bible’s Ten Commandments may seem to be part of the changes going on in our nation and around  the world today. “So what?” you may ask. The real response to this is: “Is the new normal really normal or an abstraction of what is the ultimate reality to our life?”

Here we approach the divide between blessing from the Devine and the pit of despair that so often beset Israel as her kings would turn their backs on the God of Israel.  And for the nations today, the rest of us, we were the intended audience to watch what Israel did or does when blessed to see how the rest of us may inherit what Israel was always intended for … God’s will and THE blessing.

Across the US and across the global landscape of this planet, humans are turning a blind eye to the God over all, Jew and Gentile, and the consequences will come. They did before. They will come yet again. But you are being lulled into a false sense of it won’t happen because “see nothing happened today,” so why worry?

Maybe Oklahoma City will grow a wee bit darker and as we see more lawless behaviors, shootings, sodomy, abuse, immorality, expanding of drug use and other permissive alterations to the otherwise order we call peace … the fabric of our societies frays.

It did before and even as you think “not now” it’s happening slowly … we are all on an ever slippery slope.

Strange as it is, the world is not improving and changes are more degradation than constructive … more conflicts, more tension … you have to wonder why humanity ust never seems to learn!

And that is why the Bible speaks to an end of this era.  Read the text, study what is projected and note the uncanny similarity to the fraying of our time and what the biblical text states for tomorrow. As Yogi Berra said: “the future ain’t what is use to be.”

But God knows what the future brings and you can read it today.

Take down His law and you end up in an age of the lawless … in Oklahoma City and around the globe … you can bet on it! Ask the ancient kings who did the same … read about their fate and demise … look around you now.

Is there an afterlife? Does prayer work? Do you Believe?

WE ARE WHAT WE THINK WE ARE

Take a look at this NBC clip about life, prayer, faith and God … and consider your belief or lack thereof as the case may be.  This clip reflects so much of what the media tell us today, but is this solid information or just a reflection of deeper issues and limited understanding?

One this is clear to people who are aware of what the Bible has to say is that humanity is rounding the historical bend to something daunting and perhaps with consequences that are eteranl.  Should you care?

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

BUT WHAT ARE WE? WHERE DO YOU STAND IN AN AGE OF RELATIVISM?

So … where do you fit in?

If you are like one of the millions who have never really read the Bible, or bothered to study the informative substance there, then you are left with no basis to consider the Hebrew and Greek scriptures are indeed relevant.  Any assumption that material life and nature is all there is, all that explains all,  is equally dangerous.  Being of an opinion of any sort minus solid information is a real problem.

Do you accept the Koran as Devine inspiration without seeking an understanding as to how that written work came into existence? What are the facts? (Some thoughts can be found on a companion page)  Mormons are little aware that the Book of Mormon was written in the US in the 1800s as theistic fiction (See the 1909 text by Dr. McNiece [PDF of McNiece’s Chapter 10] or [PDF download of original complete volume from another website, therein see Chapter Ten]). Followers of the Jehovah’s Witnesses (JW) read their translation of the Bible tinkered with by Russell and Rutherford, but history tells neither man knew the original biblical languages.  Misconceptions of the Bible abound.  Meet a JW and they will tell you there are many gods, that they are one of the 144,000 canvassing the globe in the latter days.  But look at what the Bible says of the 144,000 … the fact is each member of this massive 144K evangelical movement is both Jewish and a virgin.  Look at the JW in front of you and ask: “Are you Jewish? Are you a virgin?” Well?

What does this all say? Knowing the reality of the reliable nature of information is key. Many of the moderns today forget the Bible stated the universe had a beginning.  Science only confirmed this fact in the Twentieth Century, thousands of years after the biblical record. For centuries biblical scholars wondered if there really was a King David!  Now, near the Temple mount in Jerusalem, in recent decades the digging reveals the City of David is fact and not fiction.  And the Bible tells us at the end of the latter days, the nations will turn against Israel.  See any trends out there now? That couldn’t have happened until after World War II when Israel became a reality in a modern sense.  And the trend of recent events seems only to ramp up to the very events that biblical prophecy states will come.  Are you observant and willing to study how factual and truthful Scripture is?

The NBC piece comes with some statistics, like 26% of those polled said being close to God was most important in their life.  What does that tell you of the remaining 74%?  The next most important priority was family, a close second at 14%.  What is important out side this top 40% devoted to God and family?  Think about it, 60% of the rest of us have other priorities in life … and not all are moral or selfless!

When 68% say God exists, are they saying “God of Israel” or “a god of some kind?”  Historically, humans have believed in wooden and metal figurines they called god, but as Abraham noted, no such figurine ever responds to anyone … those gods are dead and of no hope or help in life, then and now!

There is confusion as to what God or god is!  A force (54%), a man (27%), a human form not clearly man or woman (12%), other than human (6%) and 2% say woman … but the Bible clearly states God is spirit and we are made in His image.  Why then are there so many impressions and opinions?  You might surmise that assumptions prevail in the absence of close scrutiny, study, or a look at the validity of the Bible and the information therein … the fact of the matter is not considered by the masses.  Are you a mere lemming running into the sea of relativism and mere opinion?

What is truly awesome is that there is a Bible and a Jewish people spoken of in the ancient parts of the text AND that they and Israel exist today.  Moreover the very trends and the nature of what the Bible tells us is alive in right there on the news each and every day … and yet so many are blind to the implications.

What we discover time and again is that the popular media do so much to confuse the real issue of what is the factual basis to believe and faith.  Science digs up facts, but so too faith must rely on fact or it too is mere fiction.  Study how the Bible was written and preserved over time.  Note the connections throughout the text and how this book is alive with connections to our lives in this very moment of history!

Don’t be assured by polls and statistics that put off the urgency of knowing what is really at the heart of our existence.  Your life is in reality an opportunity to make a vital decision about why you are here!  The Bible cuts to the chase in so many ways to reveal its relevance … but until you start to explore, you are just another opinion and part of a percentage point.  Beyond mere opinions there is an opportunity … choose life!  Be alive, look and learn for yourself!

Harmony Area Thesis at WindowView

Starting Fall 2014, all Window Areas have updated Overview and Thesis pages. For the Harmony Area the following thesis now appears with a detailed explanation:

Thesis: We exist for a relationship with God—should we choose—for both Jew and Gentile, the choice is ours to make. The evidence in the Scriptures is designed specifically to make this one main point.

The overarching theme of the WindowView is “Science and Scripture in Harmony.” This itself is a thesis statement. This theme implies the reality we humans experience is truthful from both a scientific and a scriptural—evidence based—perspective. Two spheres of evidence contribute to our understanding of the present and the future.

Life or Death

The are two decisions we are free to make. One choice leads to another.
The first choice is to decide on discovering the answer to : Does God exist? And part of that is founded on asking about the God who says there are no other gods. This is a singular choice.

Today the younger generations feel that they are freer to do as they choose. Opinions of their peers and networking matters. The old guidelines may still engender some respect, but the political and moral boundaries are blurred. And why not? After all we are free to choose. Right?

The response to freedom and choice is affirmative. This leads us to realize that everyone in fact has free will. And if there is a God, free will may be a gift from him. If no God, then the process of unguided events delivers us past chaos to this moment. Then, as chance would have it, the youth of today would be totally free in their choices … driven by culture, the tribe, the tribal beat of rap or even country, and a free spirit that owes nothing to anyone … perhaps not even to self.

The backdrop of history suggests that there is sufficient evidence to ask the question about God’s existence. Evidence including the walk-through of that God on the earthly stage in a former time. It’s perhaps too incredible that the author of life could do that, but then no Hitchcock film was ever made with out the film-master’s cameo moment. Yes, a walk-through as incredible as that may be, but then in this context our existence is also rather incredible. In fact, science can’t explain all there is to providing an explanation to how life came to be. If God exists, then there is an explanation from him.

But let’s just consider the answer to the first question is yes. The second choice is to consider life or death. God’s testimony in Scripture is an ultimate choice: Will you choose life or death?

Today humans choose their life styles and beliefs. They choose how to treat themselves and other people. The choice in the voter’s booth and opinions expressed in public or private are all driven from self. You might think it unfair that there are prejudices and discrimination in and around where you live. But at the end of the day, the choice between life and death, as referenced here, is the only real choice there is. And only you make that choice.

What hangs on the choice is purely your own destiny. As Scripture essentially puts it, you choose and the blood (consequence) of your decision making is on your hands … so we are encouraged to choose life (eternal) because the answer to the first question is yes. Saying no to life in the second choice has eternal and final consequence.

Today, the youth of this world are seeing transitions take place at a record pace. Global changes, political shifts, marketplace swings, uncertainty, change in morals and norms … the way the media reports it, all is simply a matter of fact. The real disconnect is in forgetting we ultimately have two questions to ask and two answers to give.

People get wrapped up in saying others are anti this or that, or are too political, too religious, too phobic or judgmental. Yet, ironically, take away all other sources of intellectual entanglement and you, and I, all of us, are left with two choices. This brings back all the external negatives to beg us to engage in the only positive and constructive process there is … and that is we each think, discern, and seek truth. Even if we were merely here by chance, that would be truth. But scientific evidence cannot support the merely by chance explanation. So we arrive back at the first question.

How you answer the second question will determine everything else about how you live your life. The rappers and country singers may espouse all kinds of experiences and ideologies, but if you live life by choosing life, then his walk-through means a lot to the point your life now becomes different … it becomes a walk from here into eternity.

Being alive means you can choose. Physical death ends the option to choose. Now is the time to think and choose.

Middle East Noise and Global Domestic Moral Decay

The news clips below for the most part reveal the constant friction in Israel. And at some point everyone will throw up their hands and accept a peace plan offered by one strong ‘leader.’ Beware that one may ultimately be a lawless peace maker and that portends troubles greater than anything … Ever.

But elsewhere around the world we are slipping into the idolatry and moral decay of ancient Greece. The acceptance of legalizing private sodomy between consenting adults is embraced by a President and other congress persons, recently, with song, in parliament in New Zealand, in France, in Cuba, and elsewhere a global trend. As if this is a human right. The Greeks openly did such behaviors in public … How soon will it be in the world today? However, it’s slipping into the backdrop as a human right for same sex marriage. Okay, so if there is no God and no hell … folks need not worry … but we wonder how long the US coinage will state “In Go We Trust.” The next round of slipping on moral decay comes with the last clip below … does anyone teach the child morals? Is a pill freely obtained the way out … or is there another dilemma we fail to address in all this.

The WindowView is less about commentary or opinion than it is on drawing attention to perspectives … some biblical. So look at the stories … these are the data of the day … and ask yourself … What if there really is God and heaven … is hell where this world is headed … what about you?

HEADLINE: Settlers, Palestinians clash in the West Bank

The incidents came hours after a Palestinian from Tulkarem stabbed to death Evyatar Borowsky, a 31-year-old father of five from the settlement of Yitzhar, as he waited at a bus stop at the Tapuah junction in the West Bank.

The attacker grabbed Borowsky’s gun and opened fire on border police at an adjacent checkpoint. The police returned fire, wounding the terrorist before apprehending him. He was taken to an Israeli hospital for treatment.

HEADLINE: Israel sends message to foes to North and South

Tuesday’s air force strike in Gaza was a surgical, precise attack on a weapons manufacturing expert who, according to the security forces, played a key role in developing the rocket capabilities for global jihadi groups in the Gaza Strip.

It is these small but highly radical al-Qaida-inspired organizations, led by the Ashura Council of Holy Fighters in the Environs of Jerusalem, that refuse to recognize or abide by the Israel-Hamas truce, and that use both the Sinai Peninsula and the Gaza Strip as a rocket launching pad to strike at southern Israel.

The air strike contains a number of messages for Palestinian armed factions in Gaza. For global jihadis, it signals Israel’s ability to wait patiently for its intelligence services to mark out those behind ongoing rocket attacks, and to act without hesitation once the targets become exposed.

US Government lowers ‘morning after pill’ age to 15, to be sold over-the-counter

In a surprise twist to the decade-plus effort to ease access to morning-after pills, the government is lowering the age limit to 15 for one brand – Plan B One-Step – and will let it be sold over the counter.

Today, Plan B and its generic competition are sold behind pharmacy counters, and people must prove they’re 17 or older to buy the emergency contraception without a prescription. A federal judge had ordered an end to those sales restrictions by next Monday.

But Tuesday, the Food and Drug Administration approved a different approach: Plan B could sit on drugstore shelves next to condoms, spermicides or other women’s health products – but to make the purchase, buyers must prove they’re 15 or older at the cash register.
