Global Halloween 2015

Clearly we live in a world increasingly at risk for falling directly into the Bible’s end time scenario. In fact, Muslims of the extreme stripe already agree.  After all ISIS is beheading ‘infidels’ (according to their definition) and attacking peaceful people to create a disruption that most nations sit quietly to watch from the sidelines. That in itself is a Global Halloween horror!

Oh, yes I hear folks say it all the time this is just “saber rattling” that happens throughout history. So, what’s so new about all this and maybe we can just ignore the friction and continue living as if all this stuff carries no relevance. This would be living by “our understanding” and not recognizing a more all encompassing perspective of biblical proportions. You may not get it today … but the Global Halloween is full of evidence for the horrors and misdeeds of the end times that are not simply yet to come … THEY ARE upon us today.  Why? Well! To just highlight a couple thoughts …

RUSSIAN TRICKS and TREATS

There is nothing more obvious when lies are conspicuous to the global community. What’s worse, the nations of the world see the lies of one nation and then not call out that bad player as lier and deceiver.

Russia has moved into the Middle East to support a weak ally in Syria. Declaring their effort is aimed at defeating terrorism and even battling ISIS, the daily news reports clearly show otherwise. In fact, Russia is helping Iran to enter into the fray by transporting Iranian weapons into Syria to fight the opposing forces to the Syrian ‘leadership,’ as is if we can even consider Assad a leader of any honest nature. But here is the bottom line on Russia’s trickery … the treats awaiting Russia will be called out by a Heavenly Father who understands the evil nature of man, perhaps especially Putin himself, and this one day will be the eternal downfall to what Russia has started recently. But more so, Russia has begun, and adds to, the circling of hostile nations and hostile forces, in and around Israel … one more step deeper into End Time. You do not have to agree, it’s just happening in spite of what any wishful thinking might be … and, oh yeah, recently China has shown up with war ships in the arena of the Middle East … Trick or Treat!

GHOULS in GAZA and GOLAN

Can the terrorists stop sending missiles across Israel’s borders in their attempt to harass, kill, and disrupt Israel? Again, we see signs of the End Time because the rhetoric keeps being amplified … and the enemies of Israel teach their children that is is good to stab with knives, to wear bombs as martyrs, and to simply focus on hate. You don’t even have to have any particular opinion of Israel to know, within one’s heart, that all these behaviors are ghoulish and sick. It’s the global zombies, voodoo thinking, and mindless brain washed beings who just “don’t get it!”  Wake up from the dead! And yet, all the while, the global community of nations sit in the bleachers hoping the global nightmare will all go away.

I am not going to write about the prospects for peace, because when a peace covenant finally does come (it’s in Scripture folks), especially for the sake of Jerusalem and the to be built Jewish Temple in Jerusalem, the ghouls will still be around and will only help to usher in the sequence of events that are called the End Time. Yep, they all decry “Peace, Peace,” but the end comes. It was and is written … and you can read it in Scripture. I don’t have to repeat it here … I’m just telling you the ghouls have their way today … tomorrow reveals their paradise is something of a Halloween horror that they have been tricked into thinking is something wonderful, but in fact is eternally awful. It’s awful enough here, today. Do you get it?

FEAR of END TIMES

I write all this with a special sadness in my heart. I say this because any discerning person, even Muslims, those who want a peaceful non-conflicting life, can read the Scripture of the Old and New Covenants to see ‘another side’ to what the Koran alone says. I once read an article that noted the Prophet’s hands “are open t the New Covenant.” Wow! Really? Incredible! How could that even be true if Islam is to embrace humanity as a whole in love and peace. Christians and Jews all around the world watch what is going on in the Middle East and see strife revealing humanity’s obsessions with issues and causes that do not solve global problems. Global Halloween is here every day!

But wait … we are encouraged by the western African Imam who declared a Green Jihad for the sake of ‘saving our environment.’ What an absolutely bold stroke and universally aware perspective from within the Islamic community, even in agreement with the global scientific community … something that looks at a much larger picture and embraces life and not the tricks and mis-guided treats of a misdirected human will.

Mr. Putin’s play for power or those who espouse death to any person or nation on earth are all going to face the reality of God (the God of the Bible, of Israel, Father of all) and in a moment of confrontation with the Eternal and His truth will come a bone chilling, bone rattling, and penetrating truth, which is, we all have in this day the possibility of embracing the ultimate truth … it’s all written in the Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek Scriptures.

Maybe for you the real treat of this Halloween is to learn the truth and to stop tricking yourself into think about a false paradise … the eternal truth is the ultimate treat and we all, I mean WE all, everyone of any nation, religion, culture, WE ALL need to see through the global trickery to see TRUTH.

You NEED to Watch as a Watchman: Brigitte Gabriel Speaks at 2015 Watchment on the Wall Conference

If you watch what this lady is saying … no matter how she gets to the point of greatest concern … the POINT IS the world at large is still in a stupor and asleep in the face of crisis that grew from mild heat to hot crisis that encircles the globe. THIS IS THE “OTHER CLIMATE CHANGE.” What are you doing about it? If you are a peaceful Muslim maybe you are disturbed or just quiet … but for all others, the expansion of persecution is getting old and maybe OBVIOUS to the point many grow numb! What is to become of the human race … if their god won’t be saving you … WHO will do the salvation thing for you?

Watch … think … you live on the same planet with everyone else …

Brigitte Gabriel : At the 2015 Watchmen on the Wall Conference I was honored to share my story about how I, as a young girl, almost died at the hands of radical Islam. I outlined the plan of the Muslim Brotherhood and how they have planned and have been executing the destruction of the West. I also discuss how this infiltration is happening through our education system–indoctrinating our the most vulnerable individuals, our children.

October 17 – End Time Signs – Mounting Evidence the World is Turning a Corner

Take a sobering look at the news feed from the Middle East. For those in the West, take note that the network news is typically sanitized and there is never a mention of how we are headed right into biblical end time factors … which include religious  friction around the temple mount in Jerusalem and the nations continually circling in war patterns in the region. The following is from watch.org:

  • OCTOBER 17, 2015
  •  Israel will never agree to the stationing of international forces on Temple Mount, Jerusalem’s new envoy to the United Nations, Danny Danon, said on Friday.

“If you are serious about promoting peace, if you are really committed to advancing co-existence in our region, make a clear statement against the incitement that fuels terror, support direct negotiations,” Danon said on Friday, addressing the international community and the UN Security Council.

Danon held a press conference just before the council’s emergency meeting on the situation in the Middle East, which has seen an escalation in violence.

“When a Palestinian child opens the television he doesn’t see Barney or Donald Duck, he sees murderers portrayed as heroes,” he said. “When he opens a textbook to do his homework, he doesn’t learn about math and science, he is being taught to hate.”

  •  France is drafting a ‘presidential statement’ in order to advance a plan to station international observers at Jerusalem’s Temple Mount to ensure that the status quo at the site is preserved, French daily Le Figaro reported on Saturday, quoting French diplomatic sources.

French Ambassador to the UN Francois Delattre said, at an emergency meeting on Friday of the UN Security Council on the ongoing violence between Israel and the Palestinians, that he would circulate a draft statement to the council that would appeal for calm and restraint and for a revival of the stalled Israeli-Palestinian peace process, and for maintaining the status quo at the Temple Mount.

Statements by the 15-member council must be agreed unanimously.

  • Iran said on Saturday that its recent test launch of a long-range missile does not violate UN Security Council resolutions as claimed by the United States and France.

“Our missile tests have nothing to do with Resolution 2231, which only mentions missiles designed to carry nuclear warheads,” Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif told a news conference.

Speaking in Tehran alongside his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier, he added: “None of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s missiles have been designed for nuclear capabilities.”

  •  The United States has confirmed that Iran tested a medium-range missile capable of delivering a nuclear weapon, in “clear violation” of a United Nations Security Council ban on ballistic missile tests, a senior US official said on Friday.

“The United States is deeply concerned about Iran’s recent ballistic missile launch,” US Ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Power said in a statement.

“After reviewing the available information, we can confirm that Iran launched on Oct. 10 a medium-range ballistic missile inherently capable of delivering a nuclear weapon,” she said. “This was a clear violation of UN Security Council Resolution 1929.”

  •  At Security Council meeting, UN chief’s representative says both sides to blame for violence, criticizes Israel’s ‘heavy-handed’ actions.

Israel on Friday rejected Palestinian calls for an international force to be deployed in East Jerusalem to promote calm around the Temple Mount and the flashpoint Al-Aqsa Mosque.

“Let me be crystal clear — Israel will not agree to any international presence on the Temple Mount. Such a presence would be a change in the status quo,” Israeli Deputy Ambassador David Roet told the UN Security Council.

The 15-member council met in an emergency session to discuss weeks of escalating violence between Israel and the Palestinians in Jerusalem and the territories.

  •  Abbas orders inquiry after rioters set compound on fire; Palestinian security forces extinguish blaze; Israel preparing for clashes in West Bank, Gaza after Friday prayers.

Palestinians set alight parts of Joseph’s Tomb in Nablus overnight Thursday as they rioted and threw Molotov cocktails, while security forces have prepared for confrontations on Friday.

Palestinian security forces chased the arsonists away and put out the fire.

The Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories, Maj. Gen. Yoav Mordechai and the head of the Civil Administration Brig. Gen. David Menachem spoke with Palestinian officials regarding the incident, who condemned it.

Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas ordered the formation of an inquiry commission on the incident, which was described in the official Palestinian news agency as an irresponsible act. Abbas also instructed immediate repairs to the site.

    END TIMES EXPECTATION:

We understand, anyone reading to this point in the post may be saying noting is new in Israel or the Middle East. But that glosses over the point that in the final stages of the end times, there will be a peace pact, a covenant of seven years, set aside for the sake of the temple and peace in Jerusalem … tensions today are taking us in that very direction. The Bible be true, the rest of what will happen has already been laid out in detail … if, in fact you care to read ahead.

Hide God’s Law and He Hides Himself From Us

THOU SHALL NOT

The photo below appeared in an October 7 throw away daily paper given out at subways stops in the metropolitan area of our nation’s capital. The caption below the picture includes: “THOU SHALL NOT: Workers remove a Ten Commandments monument from its base on the grounds of the state Capitol in Oklahoma City Monday night.  Oklahoma’s Supreme Court ruled in June the display violates a state constitutional prohibition on the use of public property. … ”  The monument was removed to a storage facility.

What are the implications?

Oklahoma City judge directs removal of God's Law

Oklahoma City judge directs removal of God’s Law

Removal of the Bible’s Ten Commandments may seem to be part of the changes going on in our nation and around  the world today. “So what?” you may ask. The real response to this is: “Is the new normal really normal or an abstraction of what is the ultimate reality to our life?”

Here we approach the divide between blessing from the Devine and the pit of despair that so often beset Israel as her kings would turn their backs on the God of Israel.  And for the nations today, the rest of us, we were the intended audience to watch what Israel did or does when blessed to see how the rest of us may inherit what Israel was always intended for … God’s will and THE blessing.

Across the US and across the global landscape of this planet, humans are turning a blind eye to the God over all, Jew and Gentile, and the consequences will come. They did before. They will come yet again. But you are being lulled into a false sense of it won’t happen because “see nothing happened today,” so why worry?

Maybe Oklahoma City will grow a wee bit darker and as we see more lawless behaviors, shootings, sodomy, abuse, immorality, expanding of drug use and other permissive alterations to the otherwise order we call peace … the fabric of our societies frays.

It did before and even as you think “not now” it’s happening slowly … we are all on an ever slippery slope.

Strange as it is, the world is not improving and changes are more degradation than constructive … more conflicts, more tension … you have to wonder why humanity ust never seems to learn!

And that is why the Bible speaks to an end of this era.  Read the text, study what is projected and note the uncanny similarity to the fraying of our time and what the biblical text states for tomorrow. As Yogi Berra said: “the future ain’t what is use to be.”

But God knows what the future brings and you can read it today.

Take down His law and you end up in an age of the lawless … in Oklahoma City and around the globe … you can bet on it! Ask the ancient kings who did the same … read about their fate and demise … look around you now.

Biden – Iran – Israel … in the news

Headlines and News clips from: Watch.org

  •  The White House is testing out a new ambassador to Israel. His name is Joe Biden.

As the Obama administration tries to mend fences with Israeli leaders upset about the nuclear talks with Iran, the vice president has become the grinning, folksy face of a broader U.S. attempt at rapprochement with Israel after a winter of bitter arguments over Iran and Israel’s election.

Biden has become central to the administration’s outreach to pro-Israel activists, joining meetings with Jewish groups at the White House. Just last week, the vice president appeared at the 67th Annual Israeli Independence Day Celebration in Washington, D.C., where he began his speech by declaring, “My name is Joe Biden, and everybody knows I love Israel.”

“We have Israel’s back,” the vice president said in a speech that acknowledged a war with Iran “is a risk we may yet have to take.”

  •  Vice President Joe Biden tacitly criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday night for his opposition to the emerging Iranian nuclear deal, saying that those who say that the deal will “pave Iran’s path to a bomb… don’t get it.”

At the same time, the vice president defended Israel’s right to be worried about its security, stressing that “the notion that Israel is too concerned is preposterous.”

Biden spoke at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy’s annual gala dinner, devoting his entire address to the administration’s negotiations toward an agreement between Iran and the P5+1 member states ahead of a June 30 deadline. The sides reached a framework agreement in late March, but no text was signed or finalized, and there are major discrepancies over what was agreed, including over the process of sanctions relief.

  • Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif responded to a series of tweets by Republican Senator Tom Cotton on Thursday, accusing the Arkansas lawmaker of employing “macho personal smear,” rather than serious diplomacy.

Cotton has been one of the loudest voices against the emerging nuclear deal with Iran and gained notoriety when he spearheaded aletter signed by 47 senators to Iran’s leaders last month, warning that an agreement reached with US President Barack Obama would not necessarily be honored by future American leaders. Zarif commented at the time that the Republican senator’s contention that Iran’s leaders did not understand the US Constitution was condescending.

Zarif called Cotton out during remarks he made at NYU University in New York on Wednesday, in which he said that the UN sanctions against Iran would be lifted with the reaching of a comprehensive nuclear deal “whether Senator Tom Cotton likes it or not.”

  • The Obama administration expects a commitment to the two-state solution from the next Israeli government and from the Palestinian Authority, National Security Adviser Susan Rice said.

“President Obama has made clear that we need to take a hard look at our approach to the conflict, and that resolving it is in the national security interest of the United States,” Rice said Wednesday at the annual meeting of the Arab American Institute.

“We look to the next Israeli government and the Palestinian Authority to demonstrate — through policies and actions — a genuine commitment to a two-state solution,” she said.

  • Netanyahu signed coalition agreements with Kulanu and United Torah Judaism, but conflict looms as Yisrael Beytenu and Bayit Yehudi take issue with promises made to haredi parties.

The prime minister met with Bayit Yehudi Chairman Naftali Bennett on Tuesday night, prior to the agreement with Kahlon and UTJ.

The Likud proposal presented to Bennett, who was Economy Minister in Netanyahu’s third government, would take him to the Education Ministry and allow him to retain his position as Diaspora Affairs Minister.

There is further disagreement regarding Bayit Yehudi’s demand that Netanyahu promise not to freeze construction in the West Bank and Jerusalem and to transfer billions of shekels to the Education Ministry – a budget Bennett seeks to use for changes in the education system. “He’s not going to join the Education Ministry to deal with deficits,” said a source in the party. “If there is no budget to develop the ministry, it’s better to pass on it.”

  • The United States wants India and other countries to wait for a final nuclear deal between Tehran and world powers before actively engaging with Tehran, US Under Secretary Wendy Sherman said on Wednesday.

“I would say ‘hold your horses’. We are not quite to an agreement yet,” Sherman said, referring to India and other buyers of Iranian oil that want to increase their trade ties with Tehran.

Diplomats are negotiating to fill the gaps in an April 2 framework agreement that would curb Iran’s nuclear program, allaying Western fears it could develop an atomic bomb, in return for relief from international sanctions.

  • Iran’s foreign minister says his country and world powers will meet Thursday to start bringing together the elements of a draft on a comprehensive nuclear deal, with meetings starting Monday in Europe to finalize all its elements.

Foreign Minister Javad Zarif said at an event Wednesday in New York that even though Iran certainly wants to meet the June 30 deadline for an agreement, “no time deadline is sacrosanct.”

He met with Secretary of State John Kerry on Monday.

Zarif says Iran expects UN sanctions to be lifted within a few days of a deal. And he expects President Barack Obama will have to stop implementing the US sanctions on his country. “How he does is his problem,” Zarif said.

War Machines and the Middle East – April 20, 2015

From Watch.org

  • To wage war in Yemen, Saudi Arabia is using F-15 fighter jets bought from Boeing. Pilots from the United Arab Emirates are flying Lockheed Martin’s F-16 to bomb both Yemen and Syria. Soon, the Emirates are expected to complete a deal with General Atomics for a fleet of Predator drones to run spying missions in their neighborhood.

As the Middle East descends into proxy wars, sectarian conflicts and battles against terrorist networks, countries in the region that have stockpiled American military hardware are now actually using it and wanting more.

  •  AFTER THE Soviet Union collapsed, Richard Nixon observed that the United States had won the Cold War, but had not yet won the peace. Since then, three American presidents—representing both political parties—have not yet accomplished that task. On the contrary, peace seems increasingly out of reach as threats to U.S. security and prosperity multiply both at the systemic level, where dissatisfied major powers are increasingly challenging the international order, and at the state and substate level, where dissatisfied ethnic, tribal, religious and other groups are destabilizing key countries and even entire regions.
  • Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu: Israel views with utmost gravity the supply of S-300 missiles from Russia to Iran • Russian President Vladimir Putin warns Israel not to sell weapons to Ukraine, saying this would increase strife in eastern Ukraine.

“Israel views with utmost gravity the supply of S-300 missiles from Russia to Iran, especially at a time when Iran is stepping up its aggression in the region and around the borders of the State of Israel,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said at the start of Sunday’s cabinet meeting.

“Israel also views with utmost gravity the fact that there is no reference to this aggression in the agreement being made between the major powers and Iran. There is no stipulation that this aggression be halted, whether at the start of the agreement or as a condition for the lifting of sanctions.

News: A World Inching Its Way Toward War

From Watch.org

 April 19, 2015
  • Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei urged the country’s armed forces Sunday to increase their “defensive preparedness,” hitting out at a US warning of possible military action.

He told commanders and troops in a speech that Iran “will never accept such stupid remarks,” a jab at General Martin Dempsey, chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, though he did not name him.

Dempsey said Thursday that should ongoing diplomacy with Iran fail, “the military option… to ensure that Iran does not achieve a nuclear weapon is intact.”

“All bodies from the ministry of defense to the army and the Sepah (Revolutionary Guards) should increase their military and defensive preparedness. This should be regarded as an official directive,” Khamenei said.

  • Israel slams Russia’s sale of advanced missile defense system S-300 to Iran; Russian president warns Israel not to arm Ukraine in retribution: ‘It will be counterproductive.’

Russian President Vladimir Putin warned Israel against selling arms to the Ukraine in response to Russia’s decision to green-light the sale of an advanced missile defense system to Iran. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu slammed the deal, saying it would only bolster Iran’s regional aggressions.

“It’s the Israeli leadership’s choice. It’s their right to do what they think is appropriate. If (the arms they choose to sell) are lethal weapons, I think it will be counterproductive. It will only lead to another round of conflicts, to a rise in the number of victims, and the outcome will be the same,” Putin reportedly told state-run media Saturday.

  • Israeli analysts expressed shock and amazement Friday night at US President Barack Obama’s stated openness to Iran’s demand for the immediate lifting of all economic sanctions, and his defense of Russia’s agreement to supply a sophisticated air defense system to Iran.

“Jaws dropped” around the studio, said the Channel 10 News diplomatic commentator Ben Caspit, as news broke of Obama’s declared empathy for Russian President Vladimir Putin’s decision to supply Tehran with the S-300 missile defense system.

“Obama is something else,” Caspit added. “He’s decided to take America out of the wars…”

The station’s news anchor, Alon Ben David, chipped in, “He’s amazed that the Russians honored an agreement with him [for this long]? That’s what is astonishing.”

Responded Caspit, “This is the new America. We had better get used to it.”

  • US Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew has warned that the European and global economies could face uncertainty if European Union negotiations on more financing for Greece fail.

In a meeting with Jeroen Dijsselbloem, the Netherlands finance minister and president of the Eurogroup of eurozone finance ministers, Mr Lew “emphasized that time is of the essence for Greece to agree to a comprehensive set of reforms”, the US Treasury said in a statement.

Mr Lew encouraged Mr Dijsselbloem to “continue engagement toward a constructive outcome”, and “underscored that not reaching agreement would create immediate hardship for Greece, and uncertainties for Europe and the global economy more broadly”, it added.

  • The commander of the US army in Europe has warned that Nato must remain united in the face of a “real threat” from Russia.

“It’s not an assumption. There is a Russian threat,” Lt-Gen Frederick “Ben” Hodges said.

“You’ve got the Russian ambassador threatening that Denmark will be a nuclear target if it participates in any missile defence programme. And when you look at the unsafe way Russian aircraft are flying without transponders in proximity to civilian aircraft, that’s not professional conduct.”

Gen Hodges spoke to the Telegraph on the sidelines of a military debriefing after an exercise to move live Patriot missiles 750 miles across Europe by road and deploy them on the outskirts of Warsaw.

  • The foreign ministers of 16 of the European Union’s 28 member states recently sent a letter to EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini asking her to promote the labeling of settlement-made products in store chains throughout Europe.

Liberman called the plan “hypocritical, sanctimonious and cynical,” noting that the murder and expulsion of Palestinians by Islamic State in Syria was “going by quietly” in Europe.

  • European stocks slid, posting the biggest retreat since they began rallying in January, as concern over Greek debt was exacerbated by declines in the U.S. and Asia.

The Stoxx Europe 600 Index lost 1.8 percent to 403.69 at the close of trading, completing the worst week of the year. The Greek ASE Index slid 3 percent, with the National Bank of Greece SA and Alpha Bank AE tumbling more than 7 percent, as the country struggles to win more aid to avoid a default. Germany’s DAX Index plunged 5.5 percent this week, the most since 2011.

European stocks fell for a second day after reaching a fresh peak Wednesday, taking weekly losses to 2.2 percent. The Stoxx 600’s still up 18 percent this year amid European Central Bank stimulus, and trades near the highest level relative to projected profits of its members in at least a decade.

Remembrance of Holocaust: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow

Information released by the “Foundation for the Benefit of Holocaust Victims in Israel”:

1. 46% of Israelis believe that a second Holocaust can happen. This is 5% higher than last year.

2. 47% of Israel’s 189,000 Holocaust survivors agree.

3. 46% of survivors believe that future generations will not remember the Holocaust after they are gone. This is 9% higher than last year. 31% of the general public feels that this is the case.

4. About 40 of the 189,000 survivors still alive in Israel die each day. Nearly 25% live in poverty. 27% said that they live without heat in their apartments during the winter and 65% said that they needed help to pay for their groceries and medications.

5. Almost half – 45% – report feeling lonely most of the time. Over one-third, or 36%, live alone and half are widowed.

Thursday, April 16, is a day to remember the Holocaust and also be a day to remember the plight of those who survived the Holocaust and are still alive today.  While many millions beyond the Jewish people died in the world war … one third of the Hebrew people died at the hand of a wretched and twisted mind.  That mind was not just one man, but a mindset that infected humanity.  That was yesterday.

Today we see the seeds of that same mindset infecting peoples around the globe, it is happening again! You should ask why and think about how hatred infests the masses and that you have a choice not to do so. Ask why Israel?  What if that nation were just left alone to its own life and customs?

Those who read the Bible anticipate what comes tomorrow.  The seeds of hate bring persecution.  This is what we see blossoming in the tomorrow.  We also know that a Remnant will emerge with foresight of what the LORD intends … The Remnant embrace the Way … the way forward.

67a698b8-ce30-4447-90b1-cc502ec337cb Visit the current posting for the March of Remembrance.

This week there will be marches in cities around the world in remembrance of the Holocaust past. Perhaps you will be so gripped by the reality of yesterday to join in the march.  In so doing, you may also acknowledge that the persecutions of today and tomorrow will not succeed. The Light has come. The Light of Messiah will cause every knee to bend … even those who think that persecution earns hem paradise … when in fact it does no such thing.

Remember to be sober. Remember to think clearly. Remember to see the Way forward.

A Bible Verse Out of Context is a Pre-text and Misrepresentation

SORTING OUT CONFUSION

We were sent an article by a friend via email.  The topic was the events in the Middle East and End Times.

With so many changes over the entire globe in what seems like a blink of an eye, should we be concerned for what might well be biblical truth unfolding before our very eyes?

AN ARTICLE ON THE INTERNET

We refer you to the original article HERE.  (title: MAHDI TO RETURN BY 2016, FOLLOWED BY JESUS?)

The article includes a street view in Iran with an image of Jesus walking behind the Islamic Mahdi. This may be unsettling to Christians and perhaps even to many Jewish citizens inside and outside of Israel. What is the Mahdi and what impact does this figure have on the news coming tomorrow? The article says the Mahdi comes soon. How can we put this in context with the present events of today?

A VIDEO ON END TIMES

To bring the entire topic into context, the article refers to a video you can obtain on DVD. But in the age of the Internet the video is also on YouTube in sections (1 to 7). The first section is linked here, but you can visit YouTube to access all seven sections if you are interested.

The article noted above also contains a link to a web site promoting Islam. In taking a look there we see a comprehensive presentation on Islam. Interesting as a source, but what might a discerning mind discover there?

DIGGING DEEPER ON HOW SCRIPTURE IS TAKEN OUT OF CONTEXT

Many in congregations across the globe, those that make an effort to study the Bible, know that word play and taking Scripture verses out of context leads to misrepresntation. What is worse, few actually go back to the original Greek or Hebrew words to glean the original meaning that sometimes is muddled by translation to another language, including English.

When we went to a section of the web site on Islam that claimed that the Bible has references that reveal the true nature to Christianity, and thus the implication is a faith something less than the beliefs and tenants of Islam, we were curious to see if anything is out of context.

A real study of Scripture comes by reading what comes before and after a verse. That puts meaning in context. Taking a verse alone first risks being a pre-text that leads to prejudice, but worse, if word order is reversed or convoluted, the entire meaning can be shifted.

Let’s look at just one example the Islamic web page cites to apparently represent the true nature to Christianity (the bold and text format are copied from the original page):

6. “If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother, his wife and children, his brothers and sisters—yes, even his own life—he cannot be my disciple.” (Luke 14:26)

Notice how the wording suggests you need to (actively “does”) hate your family in order to be a Christian! But move the word not to after the word hate (and remove the ‘does’ from ‘does not’) and the whole meaning shifts.  Looking at the original Greek the wording comes like so:

“…And to him crowds many; and turning He said them, If anyone comes to Me and not hates the father of him and the mother, an wife, and the children, and the brothers, and the sisters, besides and even the of himself soul, not he is able of Me disciple to be …”

The word ‘does’ is not in the Greek.

Many English translations state: “If anyone comes to me and hates not his father …”

What is the real intent of the Scripture verse?

The problem is the Islamic web page wants you to believe Christianity is a religion of hate—even to the point of hating your own family in order to follow Jesus.  But the entire context of the Gospel speaks to loving your neighbor, your enemy, even Muslims (!) and understanding that our lives are a time of sojourning on earth to something eternal. And Yeshua, the Jewish Messiah, is the way, the truth, and essentially the only door to a relationship with the Father in heaven (John 14:6). Jesus also claims and demonstrates He is God (proof in that only He fulfills the Hebrew Bible’s prophecies, by performing miracles, by teaching in ways that are universally understood through parables, and yes, He came in a man-suit to walk amongst us, to be the ultimate mediator for sin and a way to salvation), which places Him above the status of being a prophet only (which is indeed one of his array of characteristics, but not sole role).

Let’s put the single verse back into context.  The requires reading the broader text all around the one verse. We will defer to someone who has long commented on the biblical text to a wide radio audience … J. Vernon McGee comments on Luke 14:25-27 by saying: “These verses are simply saying that we should put God first. A believer’s devotedness to Jesus Christ should be such that, by comparison, it looks as if everything else is hated. All terms which define affections are comparative.”  (see: “Thru The Bible with J. Vernon McGee,” 1983)

This point is further affirmed by a following verse 33: “So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple.” And so it is not hate, but to dislike all by comparison to placing all behind us as we join in relationship with Messiah.

As John Lennox puts it: “They must be ready to “hate” -— that is, give second place to and, if need be, let go — all else …” (‘Against the Flow,’ page 150)

Examined in yet another way, as Lennox puts it: “Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego had to make up their own minds as to whether they were going to put God first.” (‘Against the Flow,’ page 147) And after putting God above all, even their own lives, they were thrown into a furnace. But unlike burning for martyrdom’s sake, faith brings life not death or a false promise of paradise. The God of Israel and Messiah are all about life, not hate, not death, or persecution … because life is an opportunity to choose Him. Anyone who removes that opportunity from you is not of God.

The real rub with missing the context and meaning of the biblical text is a misrepresentation. If you follow the links on this page you may well go on to study other Bible verses that at first appear to make one point, but upon further study tells us something more consistent with the message in the entire Bible. hatred of family is hardly the message of the text. In fact, the entire Hebrew and Greek body of Scripture are designed to point to Yeshua and His role as the Jewish Messiah. To disagree is to take something out of the context of the entire Bible! The entire text points to the God of Israel and what He will do through the nation Israel. Is that any surprise? Might that take us back to the article, video, and topic of the end time referenced above.

Please think. Discern before jumping to conclusions.

Is there an afterlife? Does prayer work? Do you Believe?

WE ARE WHAT WE THINK WE ARE

Take a look at this NBC clip about life, prayer, faith and God … and consider your belief or lack thereof as the case may be.  This clip reflects so much of what the media tell us today, but is this solid information or just a reflection of deeper issues and limited understanding?

One this is clear to people who are aware of what the Bible has to say is that humanity is rounding the historical bend to something daunting and perhaps with consequences that are eteranl.  Should you care?

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

BUT WHAT ARE WE? WHERE DO YOU STAND IN AN AGE OF RELATIVISM?

So … where do you fit in?

If you are like one of the millions who have never really read the Bible, or bothered to study the informative substance there, then you are left with no basis to consider the Hebrew and Greek scriptures are indeed relevant.  Any assumption that material life and nature is all there is, all that explains all,  is equally dangerous.  Being of an opinion of any sort minus solid information is a real problem.

Do you accept the Koran as Devine inspiration without seeking an understanding as to how that written work came into existence? What are the facts? (Some thoughts can be found on a companion page)  Mormons are little aware that the Book of Mormon was written in the US in the 1800s as theistic fiction (See the 1909 text by Dr. McNiece [PDF of McNiece’s Chapter 10] or [PDF download of original complete volume from another website, therein see Chapter Ten]). Followers of the Jehovah’s Witnesses (JW) read their translation of the Bible tinkered with by Russell and Rutherford, but history tells neither man knew the original biblical languages.  Misconceptions of the Bible abound.  Meet a JW and they will tell you there are many gods, that they are one of the 144,000 canvassing the globe in the latter days.  But look at what the Bible says of the 144,000 … the fact is each member of this massive 144K evangelical movement is both Jewish and a virgin.  Look at the JW in front of you and ask: “Are you Jewish? Are you a virgin?” Well?

What does this all say? Knowing the reality of the reliable nature of information is key. Many of the moderns today forget the Bible stated the universe had a beginning.  Science only confirmed this fact in the Twentieth Century, thousands of years after the biblical record. For centuries biblical scholars wondered if there really was a King David!  Now, near the Temple mount in Jerusalem, in recent decades the digging reveals the City of David is fact and not fiction.  And the Bible tells us at the end of the latter days, the nations will turn against Israel.  See any trends out there now? That couldn’t have happened until after World War II when Israel became a reality in a modern sense.  And the trend of recent events seems only to ramp up to the very events that biblical prophecy states will come.  Are you observant and willing to study how factual and truthful Scripture is?

The NBC piece comes with some statistics, like 26% of those polled said being close to God was most important in their life.  What does that tell you of the remaining 74%?  The next most important priority was family, a close second at 14%.  What is important out side this top 40% devoted to God and family?  Think about it, 60% of the rest of us have other priorities in life … and not all are moral or selfless!

When 68% say God exists, are they saying “God of Israel” or “a god of some kind?”  Historically, humans have believed in wooden and metal figurines they called god, but as Abraham noted, no such figurine ever responds to anyone … those gods are dead and of no hope or help in life, then and now!

There is confusion as to what God or god is!  A force (54%), a man (27%), a human form not clearly man or woman (12%), other than human (6%) and 2% say woman … but the Bible clearly states God is spirit and we are made in His image.  Why then are there so many impressions and opinions?  You might surmise that assumptions prevail in the absence of close scrutiny, study, or a look at the validity of the Bible and the information therein … the fact of the matter is not considered by the masses.  Are you a mere lemming running into the sea of relativism and mere opinion?

What is truly awesome is that there is a Bible and a Jewish people spoken of in the ancient parts of the text AND that they and Israel exist today.  Moreover the very trends and the nature of what the Bible tells us is alive in right there on the news each and every day … and yet so many are blind to the implications.

What we discover time and again is that the popular media do so much to confuse the real issue of what is the factual basis to believe and faith.  Science digs up facts, but so too faith must rely on fact or it too is mere fiction.  Study how the Bible was written and preserved over time.  Note the connections throughout the text and how this book is alive with connections to our lives in this very moment of history!

Don’t be assured by polls and statistics that put off the urgency of knowing what is really at the heart of our existence.  Your life is in reality an opportunity to make a vital decision about why you are here!  The Bible cuts to the chase in so many ways to reveal its relevance … but until you start to explore, you are just another opinion and part of a percentage point.  Beyond mere opinions there is an opportunity … choose life!  Be alive, look and learn for yourself!
