The Mystery Of Life’s Origin – Thaxton, Bradley and Olsen

While the book has a publication date of 1984, you might ask if the approach and some of the conclusions still hold weight. If you download the book and read, you will see the authors go through a series of considerations that are very interesting and align with principles of chemistry and how that relates to any possible explanation for life’s origin on Earth.

What is equally interesting is the evidences to support the concept of life being by design and design requires forethought, intelligence, and thus mind and that brings up the notion of a designer. And there are other sources posted at this blog and at WindowView.org that add perspective on design and Designer.

There is however a continual process of considering more up-to-date information and the further development of added evidence and thought that requires additional information and support. To that end the authors of the book noted above have published a second book to provide that update.

This volume has multiple authors and expands on what was originally presented in 1984. This volume is dated 2020 and one online description of the book’s content states: “The origin of life from non-life remains one of the most enduring mysteries of modern science. The Mystery of Life’s Origin: The Continuing Controversy investigates how close scientists are to solving that mystery and explores what we are learning about the origin of life from current research in chemistry, physics, astrobiology, biochemistry, and more. The book includes an updated version of the classic text The Mystery of Life’s Origin by Charles Thaxton, Walter Bradley, and Roger Olsen, and new chapters on the current state of the debate by chemist James Tour, physicist Brian Miller, astronomer Guillermo Gonzalez, biologist Jonathan Wells, and philosopher of science Stephen C. Meyer.”

WindowView was given permission to allow downloads of the PDF of the 1984 book. If interested in the updated version, you will need to order the e-book of hardcopy (the links above lead you to one online source.

What is most interesting is that life’s origin is one of the topics that common evolution theory does not adequately address. That is, our origin seems a created event, not one by chance. If you find that idea difficult, then reading these books helps to open up thinking, a more considerate review of varied perspectives, and the option to think of life in a most unique way!

Science Area Thesis at WindowView

Starting Fall 2014, all Window Areas have updated Overview and Thesis pages. For the Science Area the following thesis now appears with a detailed explanation:

Thesis: Looking across all scientific disciplines—including, astronomy, biology, cell biology, chemistry, evolution, genetics, geology, information theory, paleontology, and physics—the scientific evidence provides support for an intelligent coordination of events in nature. This occurs throughout the history of the universe and on earth, making possible the rapid appearance of life forms, a vast diversity and abundance of species, all to prepare the planet for human life. Life is therefore special and not by chance.
