The Window as a Metaphor for Life

Welcome to WindowView!

This edition of the 'news letter' (a.k.a. Director's Pen) will be brief. During 2006 we updated the site for ease of use, but did little to add to the content. In 2008 we've added graphic elements (videos and comic strips) to expand the view.

All of WindowView's feature areas will experience further updates in the near future. We will be removing some older elements, adding new, further streamlining the site, as well as refining the flow leading from the home page to the summary paradigm.

In years past the main concept of the window was in the back of our minds, but now the web site's themes have all made the front page, evening broadcast headlines, they are all in the news. These topics are relevant to all of us who live on planet Earth. the reality of what is in the window is becoming quite inescapable!

More specific information on global change is coming to the window. Much of this will come from key reports gathered globally by scientists as part of the largest ecological assessment ever preformed by man.

Elsewhere we see continued conflict in the Middle East. This conflict is expected and validates the Window's Timeline scenario that has a scriptural base. Science on origins, global changes, conflicts in the middle East, what the Scriptures have to tell us about tomorrow ... these eclectic themes fit one window view. The combined impact is personal and relevant to you. Look out this window and see why!

Frankly, this place is a soft apologetic, that is, a defense of a specific vantage point on how life works. That point rests on a solid foundation. This works because information, not mere opinion, makes the view real. The sources are documented and well known.

Like data collected from the world around us, we sit at the window to see what fits into an overall working scenario. The conclusion we can draw from all this is something many people simply deny or avoid. But that might be like sticking our head in the sand. Life is the opportunity to look and understand ... life is short ... it's time to look, now!

Sitting at the window is an opportunity ... it's here for you.

Thank you for visiting!

Best Regards,

Dr. T. Peterson

Form a previous Director's Pen:

This 'Window' has been on the Internet for over a decade. The original focus shed light on unique perspectives to scientific and theological themes. Then by this view ... clear implications were that humanity was heading to a crossroads. It's happening right now! We all are being swept along by global driving forces.

For over two decades we recognized the coming of global change. Scientists were worried about this even before you ever heard about climate change. But it's not just temperature ... change is about to affect the entire fabric of your being. Something incredible and ominous is on the horizon.

At the same time, scientists, inside and outside of any theological framework, were beginning to ask serious questions about biological evolution. This opens up the discussion on life's origin. This is not questioning the wondrous and extensive scientific data, rather it is the traditional assumptions that are in question. Some point blank problems on evolution theory were revealed.

Then comes someone like Dr. Hugh Ross, an astronomer, who puts the big bang in context with Scripture, and in following years the push to get the intelligent design discussion going is credited to Prof. Phillip Johnson. These are the minds that move us to consider a new paradigm.

Further still, this 'Window' is here to describe a Harmony that joins the old Hebrew scriptural story to a current timeline. This harmony draws Jew and Gentile alike into one big picture. The Window after all adds perspectives together to describe the 'larger view.' We have for some time been amazed that the Scriptures, along with scientific information, describe what's ahead on the timeline. Truth comes in understanding our origin, seeing the consequence to how we live by the change we make, and recognizing the future was described centuries ago. All one need do is to look at the information that's been there all along.

The Window is a look at life, the world, with a view to how unique themes contribute to forming a critically important model. The model, a paradigm, is a way to see how 'life works.' You can add anything to the Window's view. After all, we refer to this web site as your 'thinking place in cyberspace.' If you take a serious look at the themes presented here and add your own observations, then this leads to making 'A Step Up To Life.'

We all desire to have an understanding of the big picture. We really want to know what is true. You fit into that picture in some way. Life holds importance to each of us. Might the paradigm revolve around purpose to life!

This window integrates very different topics into one framework. This ultimately is your vantage point. What you think about life is certainly personal, but the evidence for what life is comes from sources as old as ancient texts or as new as what is in the headlines. Science and Scripture may seem at the extremes, but if the data from these sources fit in a functional paradigm, then it's time to consider how this works for you.

Not understanding what is in view may have longstanding, dare we say eternal, consequences. Dare you ignore the option to "Test All Things, Hold Fast What is Good."

So, here is a place to explore and reflect on topics from Science to Scripture and to weave together a holistic view. If you see the weave forming an explanation for why life is what it is and how it's leading all of us forward to a specific horizon in time, then you are indeed beginning to see why we say all of this leads to forming a new paradigm. And that paradigm is the basis for making a "Step Up to Life." We hope you will make that step and thus understand what lies ahead for you on the timeline.
